I love being horribly straightforward. I love sending reckless text messages (because how reckless can a form of digitized communication be?) and telling people I love them and telling people they are absolutely magical humans and I cannot believe they really exist.
I love saying, Kiss me harder, and You’re a good person, and, You brighten my day. I live my life as straight-forward as possible.
Because one day, I might get hit by a bus.
Maybe it’s weird. Maybe it’s scary. Maybe it seems downright impossible to just be—to just let people know you want them, need them, feel like, in this very moment, you will die if you do not see them, hold them, touch them in some way whether its your feet on their thighs on the couch or your tongue in their mouth or your heart in their hands.
But there is nothing more beautiful than being desperate.
And there is nothing more risky than pretending not to care.
We are young and we are human and we are beautiful and we are not as in control as we think we are. We never know who needs us back. We never know the magic that can arise between ourselves and other humans.
This is such a good image. I want this as a poster.
If this painting hadn’t been an uncredited repost, you would have been able to find it as a poster here.
The painting is by Tristan Elwell, a very talented painter. This particular piece is called Curses, INC, and was commissioned to be part of Vivien Vande Velde’s short stories, “Curses, Inc.”
Look how many links I put in. One to Tristan’s print sales page, one to Tristan’s art page, and one to the commissioner’s book. Those are three potential advertisements that were lost because this image was reposted without credit.
(noun) A German untranslatable word, vorfreude is defined as the intense euphoric sensation you experience from thinking about future plans and daydreams. This beautiful feeling is a natural reaction the human mind manifests from expectations of future pleasures and joyful anticipations, such as planning a trip, going on a date, and many other fulfilling, life-changing events. *receives 50 page essay on why that joke wasn’t funny*
Funny thing is, she assumed that the picture was of a guy doing ‘random hand shapes’ when those hand shapes are themselves a form of communication used within the gang culture. Each one has a very specific meaning.
Lol it wouldn’t even be a joke had there been a picture of someone actually studying/doing ASL. It would’ve looked like an advertisement to try and convince you to go study ASL. The fact that he isn’t doing ASL is part of what makes it funny. She just wanted to complain about something *facepalm*
Me after finding out sign language interpreters make $55 an hour
I’m Deaf and I laughed my ass off at the OP. Going through life finding everything offensive is going to make you miserable in the long run. Some things do need to be called out, but I don’t see how this is one of them when the OP wasn’t trying to make fun of ASL lmao
